Four Cheese Baked Ziti

I love Italian food.  I pretty much love anything Italian at all.  So this means I also love Olive Garden restaurant. I get Five Cheese Ziti al Forno every single time I go to Olive Garden.  I know that I should change it up a bit, but every time I get something else I wish that I had gotten my ziti.
Anyway, we don’t get to eat there weekly (or even monthly) on our budget.  So…I found my favorite Olive Garden recipe to make at home.  And it’s really good.  It not very difficult and it makes a big 9×13 pan.  Plenty for sharing with friends and having lots of leftovers!  Give it a whirl, I promise you’ll fall in love with it too!

Mix up all the ingredients for the sauce (this picture was taken before I added the alfredo sauce).

Then mix all the ingredients together for the topping:

Finally, mix the pasta with the sauce and then top with some extra mozzarella and the prepared topping(above):

Dig in!

Four Cheese Baked Ziti 
(adapted from Olive Garden’s recipe found at
For the sauce:
4 cups tomato sauce
1/2 cup Ricotta cheese
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
3 Tablespoons grated Romano cheese
2 cups of Alfredo sauce (I used my recipe from here)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes or 1/2 Tablespoon fresh parsley

For the topping:
3 cups shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
3 Tablespoons grated Romano cheese
3 Tablespoons grated Parmesan
1 Tablespoon fresh garlic, or 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped or 1 Tablespoon dried parsley

16 ounces ziti
1 cup shredded mozzarella

  1. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce and mix well.
  2. Combine the first four ingredients for the topping and stir to combine. Add in the fresh garlic, oil and parsley and mix well.
  3. Cook ziti according to package directions.
  4. Grease a 9×13 pan and spread 1/2 cup of the the sauce mixture into the bottom of the pan. Pour the cooked pasta into the bowl with the remaining sauce and mix well.  Pour the pasta mixture into the baking dish.  Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over pasta.  Top with the cheese topping mixture.
  5. Bake at 375° for 30-40 minutes until cheese is lightly browned and bubbly.
